I’ll explain whether anyone with an Andorran driver’s license is permitted to operate a vehicle in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regretfully, a driver’s license or international driver’s permit obtained in Andorra is invalid for use in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n

You must have a driver’s license in order to operate a vehicle lawfully in Japan. The country from which the driver’s license is issued and the country in which the driver resides determine the documentation required to issue a driver’s license rather than the driver’s nationality.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regretfully, the international driving permit (IDP) and driver’s license obtained in Andorra are invalid for use in Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Andorra is not a party to the 1949 Geneva Convention, while Japan is the only country that is.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, there is no specific agreement between Japan and other nations governing driving.<\/span><\/p>\n

France is not a part of Andorra. France is joined under the 1949 Geneva Convention, but Andorra must join under the 1949 Geneva Convention after gaining independence from France; otherwise, the UN will regard Andorra as non-affiliated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although Andorra did not ratify the 1949 Geneva Convention after gaining independence, it is nevertheless possible that it granted an International Driving Permit (IDP) in accordance with the 1949 Geneva Convention.
\n<\/span>Although that specific International Driving Permit (IDP) may list Japan as one of the nations where driving is permitted, Japan is a very rigorous country. It is not legal to drive in Japan with that specific international driving permit (IDP).<\/span><\/p>\n

The international driving permit (IDP) under the 1949 Geneva Convention in the correct format and issued by the reputable government branch or designated agency will be valid for driving in Japan in the future if Andorra affiliations under the 1949 Geneva Convention.<\/span><\/p>\n
